The Education Team

Paul Fieldhouse (middle) joined Groundwork with a wide range of experience. He volunteered at BTCV Skelton Grange before gaining a Primary school teaching qualification specialising in the environment and science. After teaching he started as the Education Co-ordinator at Groundwork Leeds and has developed the Education Team into what it is today.


Catherine Nuttgens (third from right) has been involved with many school grounds and food growing projects. Catherine runs Groundwork Leeds' Forest Schools programme and is also running the Morley heritage project. Along with Paul, Catherine also began as a volunteer for BTCV Skelton Grange, she has since worked for the Royal Forestry Society and at Meanwood Valley Urban Farm as an Education Officer. 

Dion Auriac (second from right) is originally from Australia. Dion’s background is in chemistry. He volunteered at Groundwork in the Communities and Education teams before becoming the Sort It Education Officer. Dion now works part time on several education projects.

Sarah Adamson (right) has a degree in Environmental Science and volunteered in the Groundwork Education team before being employed full time. Sarah has now works on the Green Check project.

Carol Downing (second from left) joined the Education Team in July 2006 as ‘Education Officer’ working on the ‘Cleaner Greener Leeds' Project’. Carol’s background is teaching Drama and Environmental Education in Schools and Colleges, coordinating many ‘Theatre in Education’ projects on various topics including Health and Environment. She has also specialised in working with both children and adults with additional needs in Schools and Day Centres.

Adam Davey (left) volunteered on Groundwork’s Life Rhythms project before gaining employment on the Cleaner Greener Leeds project.  He also previously volunteered at BTCV Skelton Grange, and has a background in music.

Will Gore (no photo at present) has taken over from Dion as the Sort-It Education Officer. Will volunteered at BTCV Skelton on the project before gaining this position. Will has a degree in Oceanography and is an outdoor sports enthusiast.
